OUR MISSION

To build self-esteem, establish support systems, and empower recovery one run at a time.

Our Inpatient Program

Here at GTD, we are dedicated to the idea that improving strength and physical well-being is an important step to take on the road to recovery.

By incorporating physical activity in the early stages of recovery, we establish a support system that our participants can fall back on whenever they need it, one that empowers them and helps to build self-esteem one run at a time.

Partnered with Fora Health, CODA Treatment Recovery, Volunteers of America (VOA) Oregon, and Cielo Treatment Center, our run-leaders take clients in an inpatient or outpatient treatment program on two runs per week. In addition to advocating for sobriety on each run, we provide a forum for participants to check in with one another, along with the gear necessary to complete each run safely and comfortably.

We provide loaner shoes to new runners who don’t have a pair of running shoes. After 12 runs, our clients earn a celebratory graduation package with a brand-new pair of running shoes, a certificate of completion, a GTD medal, a GTD t-shirt, pair of socks, and a GTD drawstring bag!

Our Alumni Program

Upon graduation from an inpatient program, we invite our runners to stay involved and stay active by attending an Alumni run. Alumni runs are held Sunday and Wednesday at NW Couch & Naito (location subject to change, check our events page). Our community gets together for a short run and sharing circle. Each interested Alumni runner is entered quarterly into a local community 5K race where our team celebrates our runners and their continued commitment to themselves and their sobriety.
